Katz were commissioned to procure a four level extension to an existing four level carpark structure at the gateway to the Glen Waverley Activity Precinct. Katz reviewed the earlier feasibility work thoroughly and were able to identify alternate space saving concepts, as well as areas that needed further investigation. A number of opportunities were assessed that delivered significant benefit to Council and the community.
Regulatory Review:
In the process of resolving the design, and as a result of being able to accommodate more cars, the building extension exceeded the 50% Volume rule under the NCC. This included upgraded lighting, improved DDA access and upgraded crash barrier design to some levels.
