Bogong Multi-Level Carpark

Gateway to Kingsway

The Bogong multi deck carpark exemplifies what architecture can deliver beyond satisfying its functional purpose. The project has been applauded by the local Council for its striking visual impact and contribution to the vitality of the entertainment district on Glen Waverley.

At the gateway to Kingsway in the bustling Glen Waverley Activity Precinct, the newly completed extension redefines urban infrastructure. Delivered by the City of Monash in partnership with Katz Architecture, Building Engineering, Touch Projects, and a team of consultants including L+R Engineers , Krneta Building Consultants, Compass Engineering, and DCWC, this $40 million transformation was delivered in just 18 months, opening to the public on 16 April, 2025

Visually striking, the eight-level structure—doubling capacity from approximately 500 to over 1,000 free parking spaces—boasts a contemporary glass façade illuminated by interactive DMX lighting with smart Pharos controls

“A great team collaboration between Building Engineering, Katz Architecture, L+R Engineers…and all hardworking Council officers and internal departments, shop traders and local community to bring this project on time and under budget. A great effort from all involved!”

Shane McMahon – Strategic Project Manager, City of Monash

The Glen Waverley car park extension demonstrates how innovative thinking can transform infrastructure challenges into opportunities for excellence. The project’s success in balancing technical requirements, cost considerations, and environmental responsibility establishes a valuable model for other local government bodies facing similar challenges.

The design is grounded in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, with improved lighting, anti-climb features, and active transparency fostering safety and visibility.  The main architecture core is a key design response to CPTED, with glass to the street provides a safe and visible public environment.
