National Architecture Awards 2020!

Katz is excited to announce we have submitted East Melbourne Residence in this year’s National Architecture Awards!

Our approach to the renovation of this Victorian East Melbourne double-fronted terrace tries to encapsulate the very essence of Melbourne – the juxtaposition of the old and the new architecture that celebrates and respects both. The deep floor plan at East Melbourne Residence is punctuated with two internal courtyards that separate the levels and era, with the new works respectfully detached from the textural brick facade of the past. A glass link seamlessly connects old to new, with a bridge and dramatic stair linking the traditional and the contemporary, both physically and spiritually.
